Chevy S10 Blazer Alternator To C100 connector Wiring Diagram

Chevy Alternators have been burning up


Check the Wiring Connectors From Alternator See below more details:


On the alternator there is connector with two wires, brown and pink. From the schematic, these are supposed to go to the generator indicator light and gauge. These are both shorting to ground.The schematic shows these going to a C100 and then C200 connector

The C100 connector is the bulkhead connector, and there is a fuse panel directly behind it.
 
One of the Pink/Black wires shows to go to the 20 amp IGN/GAU fuse. Therefore, you should see 12 volts on that circuit 39 Pink/Black wire at the Alternator.
 
I see why there is some confusion, as there seems to be 2 Pink/Black wires at the alternator terminal C by the schematic...with the Brown wire leading to terminal B.
 
The Brown wire from the alternator leads directly through C100 to the IP cluster charge indicator...So with the ignition key in the on position, you should be able to ground that brown wire and turn on the charge indicator light. Do this test with the brown wire removed from the alternator. This will verify the integrity of that wire to the cluster and at the same time test the fuse.

Now at Splice S112, we can see that one of the Pink/Black wires leads to the O2 sensor and one to the Transmission. And with a manual trans, the O2 sensor leads from connector C100.

There should be only one larger wire connected to the Battery terminal on the alternator, and that one wire should go directly to the Positive post of the battery or to a junction terminal and then to the Positive Battery Post.

Here is the additional diagram if the vehicle has a voltmeter in the cluster. Wire comes from that splice S200 to the cluster for voltmeter operation.

S200 splice, appears to be tapped within the harness just beyond the Bulkhead connector.
